To begin at the beginning… well, nearly

I once went for a job interview where the company MD gatecrashed the meeting, having nothing better to do. Thinking it was a smart question, I guess, he invited me expansively to tell him about everything I had ever done. I jokingly said, what, from the beginning? and he, smartarse, replied, ‘everything’.

So I explained where and when I was born and all about my parents, and school, and after about two hours I was on my second marriage, my kids, his eyes glazed over and he thanked me for coming and I never heard from him or the company again.

Already I see your eyes beginning to glaze over….
